After over 30 years in medical and surgical eye care Dr. Elmquist still feels the same excitement that he did when he was first invited to scrub-in during a cataract surgery as a fourth-year medical student. He states: “It’s so cool being in a specialty that treats, and often restores, vision. Cataract Surgery is such a rejuvenating experience for so many. The beauty of the eye and its structure is exciting to me every day. The eye is a wonderfully unique part of the body. Looking directly into an eye can provide an abundance of valuable diagnostic data both historically as well as related to the current condition. So long as I can evaluate and observe the wonder of the human eye I will continue. I will never tire of looking into eyes.”
Dr. Elmquist is honored that his peers have chosen him to be a recipient of the Castle Connolly Top Doctor award annually from 2011 to 2019.
